 What is a Passivhaus?

German for- you guessed it- “passive house”, Passivhaus is a clearly defined set of performance parameters that a house must meet in order to achieve the Passivhaus standard. A “true” Passivhaus has no auxilliary heating, but relies on solar gains to maintain a comfortable temperature. Even if you don’t manage to hit all of the parameters, you still end up with a much more comfortable building with a proven higher resale value.
